Fear Note is an art book disguised as a research report; it is also a concept map re-imagined as translated literature.
The book carries the reader over territory recently traversed by Taey Iohe in her PhD research, into images she has encountered and recorded during her investigations into her neighbourhood, and beyond the simple opposition of original/translation, or home/foreign.
Fear Note is a guide-book to landscapes which have been mapped but not travelled, or walked-through but never recorded. The spaces that Taey finds to be dia-grammed are everywhere: a table for a love-letter to lay and decay on; the bodies around her; the trajectories of the women whose diasporas she honours, follows and speaks; the local streets found on no development plan; debatable spaces and contested peninsulas.
These countries and conversations are populated by ghosts and unquiet spirits: Of a student struggling with a perfunctory gloss of the colonial canon; of the women whose memory and history will not depart from their neighbourhood; of half-completed or half-heard dialogues which are impatient to be re-spoken and regain momentum as living nomad languages.
Fear Note is a bulletin from the edge of the map, from the empty space inland from the coast; a vocabulary before the grammar has been spoken.

이 책은, 작가 태이 요헤가 아우르는 연구과제의 경계들을 독자에게 상기시킨다. 작가는 고향과 타향, 원본과 번역 등의 간결하게 놓이는 반대의 개념들을 벗어나 그 주변에 놓이는 관념들을 이미지화한다.
'피어 노트'는 아무도 찾아가지 않았고, 녹음되지 않았지만 지도화된 풍경들에 대한 가이드북이다. 태이 요헤가 찾아내 다이어그램화한 공간들은 이곳 저곳에서 발견된다. 연애편지와 함께 부식하고 녹아가는 테이블, 작가 주변의 신체들, 작가가 해석해나가는 다른 디아스포라의 궤적과 해석들, 개발조짐이 없는 지역의 길거리들, 경쟁적 구도안의 반도와 논쟁의 공간들.
이러한 국가들과 이야기들은 조용하지 않은 영혼들과 귀신들에 의해 채워진다. 그들은 식민의 땅에서 쉽게 발화하지 않은 학생들과, 이웃을 벗어나지 못하는 여자들의 생존의 기억과 역사들, 반쯤 완성되거나 반절정도 들을 수 있는 이야기들이다. 살아있는 노마드 언어로서 다시 발화하고 이야기 되기에 미쳐 완성되지 않은 것들이다.
피어 노트는 해안에서 육지로 들어오는 빈 땅, 문법이 말해지기 전의 어휘, 지도의 변두리에서 쓴 보고서이다.
